The Retro Garage Museum won the Presidential Grants Fund contest for the fourth time with the project called “Aristocrats of the Mining and Industrial Civilization”.
The project is aimed at preservation of the material industrial heritage and historical memory with an emphasis on the regional industrial history through spreading knowledge among teenagers and young people about honorable people who did much for the prosperity of Russia; it also contributes to the formation of conditions for the development and self-determination of the young generation on the basis of spiritual and moral values accepted in the Russian society in the interests of citizens and the state.
The focus is on the personality of Dmitry Fedorovich Ustinov – a legendary graduate of VOENMEH Baltic State Technical University, an outstanding military engineer and talented organizer of civil engineering at the defense plants of Perm and Izhevsk.
The project includes a series of educational events on the activity of D.F. Ustinov when he served as the USSR People’s Commissar for defense in Perm, during the Great Patriotic War and in the postwar period. The events will take place in Perm educational institutions and in the Retro Garage Museum with the participation of historians, representatives of VOENMEH and the Leningrad Defence Museum.
The plans will be carried out with the help of the museum’s long-time partners – the Perm Provincial Orchestra and the Perm Branch of the Sverdlovsk Railway.
