We are pleased to welcome a new member of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia – Partisan Valley in the Past. The founder of the museum is Kolodko Anatoly Alexandrovich.
The museum is part of the Etude holiday base, located on the picturesque shore of the Japanese Sea. During the construction and operation of the base it became clear that it is located on the site of an old, and possibly ancient, quarry. On the surrounding hills there were found the traces of stone processing, blanks of stone agricultural tools, fragments of ceramics more than 3 thousand years old; ancient anchors, a bronze Bohai vessel were raised from the sea bottom; arrowheads and spears, a medieval warrior’s stave armed with a heavy spear, etc. were found. The museum does not aim to collect something expensive and valuable. The aim is to make visitors interested in learning about the history of the region. This is why everything can be touched, twisted, tried on, played with, etc. Of special interest is an opportunity to mill corn flour with antique stone millstones, sift it and make bread for dinner or thresh corn in an ancient stone mortar which once belonged to Jurchens, maybe a thousand years ago. Today, in fact, a large part of the base is a museum.
