The Ice Sculpture Festival in the village of Orekhovo in the Spassky district of the Ryazan region is a unique project run by the team of the modern cultural and educational agrocluster “Our Orekhovo”, a collective of young architects and designers Ice-Building (Moscow) and the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia in collaboration with the administrations of the Spassky district and the Lakashinsky rural settlement.
The concept of the project is to convey the best images from traditional folk tales, such as the Bear, the Deer, the Fairy-tale house, the Tsar’s Throne, as well as the symbol of the year 2022 — the Tiger — in the ice sculpture.
The ice sculptures in the park will mostly be built in real-time in front of the audience. The works are scheduled to start on January 11, 2022, and the grand opening, scheduled to coincide with the Old New Year celebrations, will take place on January 15, 2022, at 14:00.
The goal of the project is to develop the new winter park “Our Orekhovo”, which contains an outdoor ice rink, a playground, and other winter infrastructure.
