A restored Monument to the Soldiers of the Great Patriotic War officially opened in the village of Orekhovo, Ryazan region

On September 2, an opening ceremony of the renovated Monument to the Soldiers of the Great Patriotic War took place in Orekhovo village. This event was long-awaited and well-prepared. The main work was done by the Association of Private and People’s Museum of Russia, headed by A. Yu. Shaburov, Head of the Lakashinsky rural settlement Yu. V. Mashnin and the locals.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Ryazan Region Vitaly Popov, Deputy Minister for Territorial Affairs and Information Policy of the Ryazan Region Ivan Ushakov, and Deputy Head of the Spassky District Administration Yuri Krotov, as well as other officials, came to congratulate the participants on this significant occasion.

Special exhibitions were held for the guests of the ceremony: the Immortal Regiment of Valaam by the private traveling museum of I. Martsenyuk, the Weapons of Victory by the private museum Iron Warriors, Pogost village, Kasimov district, Ryazan Region, and the exhibition by Dmitry Oktyabrsky’s Moscow October Automuseum. The Moscow Military-Patriotic Club “Battalion” headed by Yuri Moskvin displayed military weapons, uniforms, and other club artifacts related to the Great Patriotic war.

The photo exhibition Our Victory, organized with the assistance of the TASS News Agency, presented unique archival large-scale photographs of the Second World War.

The event was marked by a spirit of a family holiday, which built common cause across generations: preserving the historical memory of those who fulfilled their sacred duty and sacrificed themselves to save the Homeland from the fascist invaders.
