Museum-apartment of Tula gun designer Simon Matveyevich Sheynin

On the eve of the New Year holidays, the first private cultural institution in the Museum Quarter (as this area in the very centre of Tula is now called) opened in flat 13 of building No. 6 on Metalist Street: “Museum-apartment of Tula gun designer Simon Matveyevich Sheynin”. The day before, the initiator, director (and the only guide) of the museum-apartment Mikhail Simonovich Sheynin invited to see the exposition, which occupies only two rooms. One of them recreates the modest living interior of the Soviet weapons designer, where he lived with his young wife and two children from 1951 to 1963, and the other, the most important one, contains showcases with exhibits and photographs of all the inhabitants and guests of the 13th flat.
