The museum is based on a private collection of sound reproducing equipment. Due to the rapid development of tourism in Kolomna, there was a desire to show the collection to the guests and residents of the city. This topic is also closely intertwined with the history of the city – in the 30s there was a gramophone factory in Kolomna – so the creators of the museum wanted to preserve this history.
The Museum’s collection contains more than 200 exhibits, including:
– Kolomna gramophones;
– music boxes on metal disks;
– Edison’s phonograph;
– the Pathe brothers’ gramophones;
– various models of both mechanical and electrical sound reproducing equipment.
