The Samovar Museum is the private collection of Khafiza Boraganchieva. Khafiza has been collecting samovars since her youth, and has been doing so for over 12 years. The origin of the collection began in the city of Norilsk.
And only in 2021 the collector decided to open a museum – first in the city of Sosnovoborsk, where it existed for a short time, and then the museum moved to Krasnoyarsk. Hafiza herself is from Norilsk.
… “It all started because of my dad who loves war movies and when he tried to interest me he would explain everything very emotionally and say: “Look, what’s going to happen in the film! And I, of course, got interested. But us girls, what is the first thing we pay attention to? – The interior. And there, in the old movies – there were lampshades, floor lampshades, towels, different tassels. So I fell in love with antique household items and started collecting them. I was working as a kindergarten teacher at that time and people knew me, knew my hobby and brought me different objects from old times.
One day, an acquaintance called me and promised to give me a samovar. But back then, the samovar was just an object to me, like any other. However, when he handed me the samovar, he left the flat, and I was left alone with the item I had brought, it became clear to me that this samovar fascinated me: it was so beautiful. It was the beginning of my collection.
The samovar “Volzhanin” was the beginning of my samovar collection…”.
Within the walls of the museum one can experience:
daily excursions with tea drinking for children and adults;
family tea-preparations;
master-classes;
birthday parties;
interesting photo shoots – why not?
purchase/sale of samovars;
samovars for rent;
restoration of electric samovars.
Today in our museum there are 69 exhibits / samovars from Russia, Romania, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Turkey, Iran, Germany and other countries.
Each samovar has its own form: a shot samovar, a ball, a barrel, a vase, a rooster samovar. Unique exhibits of the Museum are the “Sputnik” samovar from 1970-1980 that was given to pilots-cosmonauts after their flight and a large fire-oven Tula samovar with 4 – 45 litres capacity.
